Hello Friends!
I hope that this email finds you well. I have been quite busy the last few months and wanted to update you on what has happened. Our amazing team of family and friends held the 2nd Annual Matthew Perna Freedom 5K on September 23, 2023 in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania.
The weather was exceptionally beautiful, and the outpouring of support was truly amazing! We had over 90 runners this year (more than double from last year) and over 100 Chinese auction prizes donated by family, friends, and community businesses. All the proceeds from the event will benefit the newly established Matthew Lawrence Perna Foundation. Matt loved people and animals. We are presently working on a cause that he held deeply in his heart; more updates to follow in the coming months!
In May, I was asked to be in a docufilm by Dinesh D’Souza called Police State. Dinesh interviewed me shortly after Matt died, and when he decided to produce a movie about the current state of affairs in our country, he asked if I would like to help. I told Matt’s story in the film, which was released in select theaters in October. There was a Red Carpet premiere held in Mar-A-Lago on November 2, 2023, and I was invited to attend. I met several of the people associated with the film and other well-known conservatives. It was such an honor to be included in this project, and if you haven’t seen it, I encourage you to visit policestatefilm.net for links to stream it right in your home.
I have become an advocate for people from January 6th, many of whom have reached the point of despair that Matt did. I receive many messages through social media and have found myself in a position to help people by making them realize that all hope is not lost. I tell them that suicide is not the answer, and my family doesn’t wish the aftermath of losing a loved one this way on our worst enemy. But I can only do so much. Please continue to keep the defendants from January 6 in your prayers.

Hi Gerri. My boyfriend and I went to see a special private showing of Police State at a local theatre recently. It was very well done. It’s nothing I already didn’t know but to see it on the big screen was quite alarming. I have to tell you, when your interview was on, there were many tears shed for your story about Matt. There is tremendous support and sympathy for your cause.. Keep fighting the good fight and honoring Matt’s memory..
